Center For Reversing Essure

A patient who had the Essure sterilization procedure decided she wanted the chance to become pregnant again. She had to decide between in-vitro fertilization and Essure reversal.

After a bit of serious research she decided the best place for Essure reversal was Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.

Ella and her husband,Markus, then traveled from Weil am Rhein, Germany to North Carolina to have her Essure devices removed and her tubes reimplanted in her uterus.

Her Essure reversal procedure was out-patient and provided her with the chance to become naturally pregnant.

Essure reversal can be safely done as an outpatient procedure and the chance of pregnancy after Essure reversal is approximately 30%.

Replacing A Lost Child

You can never replace a lost child.
I wanted to share the story of a recent patient Kristen who came to me for tubal ligation reversal.

Kristen is from Raleigh, North Carolina and she experienced the unfortunate but tragic event of losing a young child at 5 months of age. Kristen considered undergoing in-vitro fertilization but decided to have tubal ligation reversal at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center. She shares her story on Dr. Monteith's blog, Tubal Reversal After Losing A Baby, for the benefit of other women who may be going through the same thing.

You Can Never Replace Nor Forget

You can never replace a lost child but having the burden of a tubal ligation removed from your shoulders and having the chance to create new life does provide many couples with the hope of adding to their family and, in some small measure, helping to ease the pain of having lost a child.

Having a tubal ligation reversal will never totally relieve the pain of losing a child but the surgery can provide a couple with hope as they look toward the future.

Broken Essure Coils: Can They Be Removed?

Jennifer and Joe are from Maine. They are remarried and would like a child together.

Jennifer had the Essure tubal ligation procedure after the birth or her last child.

They considered in-vitro fertilization but also considered reversing the Essure.

They decided Essure reversal was best option for them.

Reversing Essure

Jennifer and Joe investigated Essure reversal and they decided to go to the doctor who they felt the most comfortable with.

Her Essure reversal procedure went well and she recovered without any major problems. After the procedure she had a HSG procedure which suggested both tubes were closed and there was a fragment of the Essure coil left behind. She was not happy.

She underwent a second HSG and the results were the same. She was not happy with the responses and attention she was getting from the doctor who reversed her Essure. She then experienced and the communication between her and her doctor ceased abruptly.

She felt she was left without any professional advice.

Removing The Broken Essure Fragment

Jennifer then contacted us at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center.

She sent her records and HSG results and asked if we would could help her. We carefully evaluated her information and thought she would be an acceptable candidate for an attempt at a second Essure reversal. She was not overweight, she was healthy, and she had excellent tubal lengths after her initial reversal procedure.

We accepted her as a candidate for Essure reversal and an attempt to remove the retained Essure fragment.

Jennifer’s surgery went very well. We were able to find and remove the broken piece of Essure and also successfully re-implant her tubes into her uterine cavity with an out-patient tubouterine implantation procedure.

The staff of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center wish Jennifer and Joe well on their pregnancy journey and we hope to hear good news from them in the future.

The Brain Fog Of Tubal Ligation: Can Getting Your Tubes Tied Cause Problems?

A recent patient who sought my evaluation because of abnormal symptoms she suffered after her tubes were tied sent a letter to me explaining her marked improvement after her tubal reversal surgery. I asked her if she would be willing to share her story about her tubal clip ligation for the benefit of others and she agreed.

Christina had a tubal clip tubal ligation and immediately began having pain and nausea. She eventually developed vagina dryness, painful sex, joint aches, and memory problems. She sought help for her problems and joined PTLS support groups and eventually found her way to our website and center for assistance.

Christina has a beautiful family but she sought reversal not for more children but to get relief from her abnormal symptoms after tubal ligation.

Side Effects Of Tubal Ligation: Christina's Story

PTLS is very real for some women.
This is a personal story submitted by Christina about her Filshie clip tubal ligation procedure. Christina was done with childbearing and desired a tubal ligation.
She investigated the risks and underwent the tubal clips procedure.
Immediately after her sterilization surgery she began to suffer side-effects which were not easily explained. She describes feeling worse, pain, memory, and muscle problems.
Fatigue, chills, and sweats also occurred and this was very abnormal for her.
Her problems started soon after her tubal ligation and she became resolved to do something about them. This is one woman's  personal story about her desire to rid her body of tubal ligation sideeffects and save both herself and her family.

How Is Tubal Reversal Done?

Tubal ligation reversal involves microsurgical techniques to reconnect the fallopian tube segments that remain after your tubes have been tied.
The surgical procedures that connect these separated parts of the fallopian tube is called microsurgical tubotubal anastomosis, or tubal anastomosis for short. Often many refer to the tubal anastomosis procedure as “tubal reversal"...or "reversing tubes".
The reversal specialist of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center have perfected the out-patient surgery and offer this surgery for an affordable price. If you are looking for an alternative to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) then this may be the surgery procedure for you.

Types Of Tubal Reversal

There are three main surgical procedures to reverse tubal ligations and they each provide different chances of pregnancy success.
1. Microsurgical tubotubal anastomosis
2. Ampullary salpingostomy
3. Tubouterine implantation

Specialist In Tubal Reversal

We specialize in all of these procedures. We perform these procedures as outpatient surgery, at an affordable price, and provide our patients with the ability to become pregnant naturally and more than once. All of these procedures can provide an alternative to in-vitro fertilization.

Essure Tubal Ligation: Those Blocked Tubes Can Be Unblocked!

Although the Essure tubal ligation procedure is intended to be permanent...it can be reversed and provide patients with a solid alternative to in-vitro fertilization.

Essure Tubal Ligation

Essure-causes-tubal-blockage-in-a-critical-area-of-the-tubeThe Essure is increasingly being done within the doctors office.

During the Essure tubal blockage procedure, a small camera is inserted through the vagina and cervix and into the cavity of the uterus. An Essure device made of nickel metal is placed inside the narrow opening of each fallopian tube.

The Essure devices cause the fallopian tube to heal closed by the gradual formation of scar tissue inside the tube.

The scar tissue formation causes blockage of the fallopian tubes andcthe Essure coils are intended to permanently remain in the fallopian tubes after the scar tissue has formed.

Removing Essure coils

The tubal reversal surgeons at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center published the first reports of successful Essure removal, Essure reversal and pregnancy after Essure reversal in the peer reviewed medical literature.

The Essure coils can be safely removed and reversed at our specialty center through a 90 minute, outpatient operation called microsurgical tubouterine implantation. This can provide you relief of symptoms if you are allergic to the nickel Essure coils and also provide a good alternative to IVF.

If you are interested in Essure reversal for pregnancy or Essure removal for side-effects then call our office at (919)968-4656 for more information.

The tubal reversal experts of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center exclusively specialize in tubal repair surgery and tubal ligation reversal surgery. One of the best methods for reversing which provides the best chance of pregnancy are fallopian tube clips.

Tubal clip tubal ligation

Tubal ligations can also be performed with specially designed fallopian tube clips. These clips are placed across the fallopian tube to cause permanent closure of the tube.

Tubal clips are most often placed during a laparoscopic procedure. Tubal clip ligation is often performed well after a pregnancy has ended but some doctors will place the clips at the time of a cesarean delivery or soon after your baby is born.

Removing and reversing tubal clips can provide a patient with an excellent chance at becoming pregnant after tubal reversal.

How are clips reversed?

The tubal clips must be removed, the closed edges of the tube reopened, and the tubal edges rejoined though microsurgical tubal reversal. Because the clips are very narrow they damage the least amount of fallopian tube compared with other types of tubal ligation procedures.

Chance of pregnancy after tubal clip reversal?

The chance of pregnancy after reversal of tubal clips at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center is approximately 78%.

Tubal Reversal Surgery: How To Get Your Rings Off Your Tubes!

Tubal ligation can also be performed with tubal rings, or bands, designed to cause permanent closure of the fallopian tubes. These bands are placed across each fallopian tube and cause permanent tubal blockage and prevention of pregnancy.

Tubal rings are usually placed on the tubes during a laparoscopic procedure (small camera placed into the belly button) well after a pregnancy has been completed.

Tubal rings, like tubal clips, damage minimal amounts of the fallopian tube. Reversal of tubal rings at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center can provide a patient with an excellent chance at becoming pregnant after reversal surgery.

Many people mistakenly believe tubal rings can be reversed simply by removing the rings and 'unkinking' the tube. Unfortunately reversal of tubal rings is not that simple.

The tubal rings must be removed, the closed edges of the tube reopened, and the tubal edges rejoined though microsurgical tubal reversal. Because the rings damage a small amount of fallopian tube, tubal ring reversal can provide excellent chances of becoming pregnant after tubal reversal surgery.

The chance of pregnancy after reversal of tubal rings at our center is approximately 76%.

Please give us a call at (919)968-4656 and we can tell you how to get started with your tubal reversal.

Have you ever wondered if burned tubes can be reversed?

Although having 'tubal burning', 'burnt tubes', or 'burned and cut tubes' seems bad, the reversal specialists of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center have demonstrated burned tubes are reversible and can provide women with a good chance at becoming pregnant after reversal of their tubes.

Tubal coagulation is an extremely common method of tubal ligation. This method is also known as 'tubal burning'.

Reversing burned tubes can provide women with a 40 to 60% chance of natural pregnancy after tubal reversal surgery. This is much higher than the per cycle chance of success of in-vitro fertilization which averages 35 to 40% success per cycle.

Although having burned tubes during your ligation procedure seems ominous it is not quite as bad as it sounds.

Most women with tubal coagulation can have a successful reversal and natural pregnancy.

In the experience of the tubal reversal experts of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal center most tubal coagulation procedures can be reversed and approximately 66% of our patients will report pregnancy after reversal of burned tubes.
